Family Enrichment Activities

Central to the culture of Light the Way Academy are key activities throughout the year that:

  1. Enhance the education of our children and youth

  2. Engage all members of the family in LTWA

  3. Support a tight-knit culture of our commonwealth.

These are some of the many activities that we are excited to hold throughout the year. Tentative dates for these can be found on the Calendar.

Entrepreneur Christmas Market

Just in time for the Christmas season, this event allows children and families to sell things they made or want to sell at a fun Christmas market. This helps children learn the principles of entrepreneurship and economics with a fun holiday spin (getting as close to the European Christmas markets as we can!)

Winter Family Ball

Held in January, this fun event combines a potluck dinner and dance for the whole family and others in our LTWA community. Dust off your ball gown or tux and enjoy a fun family-focused night of food, music, and community.

Science Fair

This science fair event is a culmination of the work from the Love of Learning "Fall in Love with Science" curriculum, but is open to all LTWA students. Students will get the opportunity to prepare a complete science experiment, prepare a presentation which they will give in front of judges. The LTWA community and friends will be invited to come see the projects. Prizes will be awarded.

(*We are exploring the possibility of having LTWA students participate in local public school science fairs as well, allowing them the chance to present their work at other fairs as well.)

Mom's Retreat

This weekend trip allows moms to escape together (leaving the kids home with dad) and spend time connecting with each other. Usually happening in February, this break half-way through the school year provides a chance for much needed rejuvenation and support at the time when moms are getting a little tired from the everyday homeschool grind.

Connecting Activities

Whether it's a park playdate, potluck dinners scattered throughout the year, holiday-themed festivities during our weekly LTWA activities, date nights for parents, we hope to support a vibrant tight-knit community through regular activities and lots of FUN!

Dad School

As part of the end-of-the-year celebrations, the LTWA dad's takeover planning a fun day-long activity on a Saturday in nature with their own "Dad School." Activities may include everything from sports skills to Dutch oven cooking, gun or archery shooting, knots and lashings, plant identification, and more. This fun outdoor celebration aims to bring all families together as the weather warms up.
